	Public Safety Concerns, Consumer Rights, Wrecker Industry Awareness

Founded in 1995 by a representative body of Austin Area Towing and Impound companies to address concerns of Public Safety, Consumer Rights Issues, and promote Wrecker Industry Awareness within the City of Austin, and Travis, and Williamson Counties. The nonprofit Association is governed by an elected Board of Directors who actively promote its goals and charities throughout the community.

Members of the Austin Towing Association promote a high standard of business ethics and actively adhere to the Associations “Fairness to the Public” policy. All Association Member Companies, their wreckers, and drivers hold licenses issued by The Texas Department of Transport, the City of Austin and surrounding Counties. Association Members are actively engaged in promoting job and accident scene safety, driver training and certification courses in association with OSHA and other government-approved agencies. Association Members are committed to courtesy and fairness in their dealings with the motoring public.

Non-consent tows in the City of Austin, authorized by the Austin Police Department, (APD) are subject to City approved towing charges. If your vehicle is illegally parked on a city street, the attending APD officer will request the services of an approved towing company. For vehicles involved in an accident, APD uses a rotational system based on City location zones to select the Towing Company who will provide service on a specific day or time. All Austin Towing Association Members are City approved for rotational towing services.

Although every tow truck or wrecker driver must hold a valid Texas drivers license and a valid permit to operate a tow truck or wrecker, not all towing companies are created equal. When you need the services of a towing company, whether by accident or a breakdown, make sure you ask for an Austin Towing Association Member.
